Photo storage: All users receive a guaranteed minimum of 14 days of photo retention in the Viewport Stream, regardless of plan.

The Corporate Plan unlocks Seat Code onboarding — a group code system that lets an organization onboard users at scale. Codes can be distributed to staff, members, or students and automatically assign them to the appropriate nest and compliance tier upon signup.

Corporate accounts also benefit from unlimited co-admins per nest, unlimited AEP plans, and unlimited daily messaging — designed for environments where constant coordination is critical.

All paid plans are billed monthly and can be managed or cancelled at any time through your platform's subscription manager.

If a subscription lapses, the account reverts to the Free Plan automatically at the next login. In-app currencies, gear, and game progress are never deleted on a plan downgrade.

The green SAFE button lets your nest know you are okay with a single tap. Send a quick "I'm safe" check-in to everyone in your nest — great for after school, arriving home, or just letting family know you are fine.

Safe check-ins appear in the Viewport Stream with a timestamp so your nest can see exactly when you checked in. Each Safe action also earns reward currency.

Beakin is the emergency alert system — the heart of SQUAWK! Tap the red BEAKIN button to instantly notify your nest members of your GPS location. They will see exactly where you are on a map and can come help.

Location is shared only when you choose to send an alert — SQUAWK! never tracks you in the background.

The Activated Emergency Plan is a pre-written set of family emergency instructions that automatically broadcast to your nest alongside a Beakin alert. Write your plan in advance — evacuation routes, rally points, special instructions — so everyone knows exactly what to do the moment an alert fires, even when connectivity is limited.

Huddle is for planning meetups. Set a location by typing an address or using GPS, and notify your nest. Everyone can see where to meet on a shared map. Perfect for "meet me at the park" or "I'm at the grocery store."

Request Check-In lets you ping a nest member and ask them to confirm they are safe. The recipient gets a notification prompting them to respond. Provides peace of mind when someone has not checked in for a while.

Tap the SQUAWK button to send a quick broadcast message to your entire nest. Squawk messages appear in the bottom ticker and the Viewport Stream, ensuring everyone sees it.

A Nest is your family or friend group in SQUAWK! Create a nest and invite others with your unique join code, or join an existing nest. Nest members can see each other's safety status, send messages, share photos, create polls, comment on posts, and more.

Get the nest join code from someone already in the nest. Tap Join Nest and enter the code, or scan their QR code with your camera. Once approved, you are part of the family.

Belong to multiple nests simultaneously and switch between them instantly. As of version 6.1.7, nest switching is lag-free — no delay when re-joining or toggling between nests. The number of nests you can belong to depends on your subscription plan (3 on Free, up to 50 on Corporate).

Nest creators have admin privileges including managing members, setting the nest name and image, and posting admin ticker messages in the top ticker bar. Admins can moderate content and manage settings through the hamburger menu. As of version 6.1.7, nest owners have a clearer, dedicated path to remove a member when needed. Family and higher plans support co-admin roles.

Comment on nest posts and activity. As of version 6.1.7, users can reply directly to individual comments in a threaded view. The original commenter receives an instant Tabby notification so they never miss a reply.

Tabby is SQUAWK!'s real-time notification system. Tabby delivers instant alerts for: safety events (Beakin alerts, check-in requests), comment replies, Huddle meetup requests, and nest activity. Notifications appear in-app without requiring a browser push — fast, reliable, and private.

Send private messages to individual nest members with real-time delivery via Firebase. Messages can include photos and attachments (thumbnails display inline). Each user's limits — character count, daily sends, unread buffer, and storage time — are determined by their subscription plan.

Messaging limits are set by your subscription tier and upgrade automatically when you change plans.

The Viewport is the circular photo area on your main screen. Tap it to take a photo and share with your nest. Recent photos appear in the Viewport Stream — a rolling feed displayed as Polaroid-style cards (image + caption).

Safe check-ins, Squawk messages, and photos all flow through the stream, giving your nest a real-time activity feed.

Tap the Polling Station (hosted by Polly the Parrot) to create a new poll or vote on existing ones. Great for dinner, movie night, weekend plans, or any group decision.

The number of simultaneous active polls is determined by your plan: Free (1), Family (3), Community (10), Corporate (25).

Golden Eggs are the base currency of the entire SQUAWK! ecosystem. Earned through gameplay, check-ins, achievements, and spin wheel prizes.

Squawk Gems are the premium currency for game entry, purchases, conversions, and upgrades. Purchasable with real money or earned through gameplay.

Quest Coins are the Food Cellar currency — used exclusively to purchase food items that fuel the Health system.

Blocks of Cheese are Castle Mice entry tokens (1 block per session). New users start with 1.

Fey Emeralds are earned through weekly rewards (2 per week on Sundays). Stored in the Enchanted Vault. Currently used to purchase Thoth's Wisdom Vessel (4 emeralds), which unlocks the power-up store.

Five wallet types hold different currencies, each serving a distinct purpose:

Feature limits in SQUAWK! — messaging caps, poll limits, nest sizes, AEP plans — are controlled by your subscription plan. Upgrading your plan instantly raises all relevant limits. See the Subscription Plans section for a full comparison table.

Gem-based individual limit upgrades (legacy) have been retired and replaced by the tiered plan system. Squawk Gems are now used for in-game purchases, gear, avatars, and gifting.

When creating a new SQUAWK! account, an optional Promo Code field appears on the signup form. Entering a valid team member promo code credits that rep for your signup and grants you a welcome bonus of in-app currency at account creation.

Promo codes are locked at signup and cannot be changed or added after account creation.

SQUAWK! is designed as a family safety app and takes children's privacy seriously.

Minimum account age: 13. Users must be 13 or older to create a SQUAWK! account. Users under 13 are directed to ask a parent or guardian to create the family Nest on their behalf.

No personal information collected from children under 13 without parental consent. Nest membership is managed by families. No real names, emails, or phone numbers required from minors.

Advertising — platform-specific. Contextual advertising (Google AdSense, G-rated) is used exclusively on the Progressive Web App (PWA) and Android versions. The iOS App Store version of SQUAWK! does not serve third-party ads. All advertising on supported platforms complies with COPPA restrictions. No behavioral tracking or personalized ad targeting is applied to users under 18.

Crypto features (NSTG) require age 18+. Blockchain features are age-gated and inaccessible to users under 18.

No background tracking. Location is only shared via explicit user action (emergency alert or check-in).
